My name is Akvile, and I am a fiber artist based in Mississauga, Ontario. My artistic journey began in Lithuania, where my early fascination with creativity and craftsmanship took root. This passion led me to study ceramics at the Art Academy in Vilnius and later graphic design at Humber College in Toronto, providing a foundation in both traditional and contemporary art forms.
My artistic exploration has taken me through ceramics, oil painting, and ultimately to the transformative medium of fiber art. Among its many techniques, I have found a particular resonance with nuno felting, which combines the textures of wool and fabric to create intricate, layered works of art. This process allows me to blend natural fibers such as silk and wool into unique wearable and decorative pieces, each infused with tactile depth and visual complexity.
Nature is my primary source of inspiration—the organic shapes, textures, and colors I encounter inform my work, lending it an earthy yet refined aesthetic. By experimenting with materials and techniques, I aim to create fiber art that invites close observation and evokes a sense of connection to the natural world.
My handmade felt pieces are more than functional or decorative; they are expressions of the transformative potential of fiber art. Through the intricate interplay of materials and textures, I strive to bring the beauty and harmony of nature into a tangible, wearable form.
